The brief
Picomar is a collection of private luxury villas on Costa Rica’s southern Pacific coast, based in Uvita, from oceanview homes to jungle hideaways and estates. Guests browse the homes, check dates and ask to book. A concierge team arranges chefs, wellness and activities around the stay.
We built the website that replaced the previous one. The Internet Archive still shows that site running on WordPress, WooCommerce and Elementor in June 2026. The new site runs on Next.js. It turns dates into booking requests, shows villa locations as areas and forwards old villa pages to the new site. On phones, most villa pages keep a Check availability button pinned to the screen. The site is in English.
What we built
Villa pages that take requests
Each villa has its own page with photos and amenities. On most, guests pick dates and party size in a booking card, then request to book; it says they are not charged yet. Four villas take inquiries instead.

Search by date, group and price
The collection page lists 46 villas with filters for dates, guests, price, amenities and access. The home page opens with a search by villa, dates and guests. Eleven collections group homes by occasion, from family reunions to retreats and complete privacy.

Maps that show an area
A villa map marks a circle with the legend “Approximate area”, not a street address. Most pages add that the exact address follows a booking. The search-engine data on all 46 villas gives only the town and country.

Old villa and journal pages forwarded
We requested the old villa pages and journal posts that the Internet Archive captured in 2025 and 2026. Each forwards to a working page on the new site: most to the matching page, through permanent redirects, and a few to the villa list.
Photos sized for each screen
Photos come in several widths, so a phone gets a smaller file than a desktop. Browsers that accept AVIF get it: on villa pages the top photo is 42% to 56% smaller than the JPEG. Only the top photo is set to load at once.
Analytics only after a yes
Google Analytics and Meta’s pixel stay off until a visitor taps Allow. Before that, the home page contacts only picomar.com and sets no cookies. After No thanks, neither tool runs, and the choice is remembered.
